Large projects run often into a myriad of different conflict types triggered by various reasons:
- Project managers and team members who fight with clients on technical solutions
- Civil contractors who threaten with claims
- NGOs who feel that their needs are not considered
- Various stakeholders who believe that their expectations are not met
The clashes of "EGOs", the lack of true leadership or a mis-communication are other reasons that conflicts arise. The constant replacement of "disturbing" people, repetition of a lot of work, delays in projects contribute substantially to higher cost.
Mediation is a voluntary collaborative process where individuals who have a conflict with one another identify issues, develop options, consider alternatives, and develop a consenual agreement.
