Our profound experience in running highly complex megaprojects shows that decisions taken in the early stages of a project exert a significant influence over a project’s outcome. It is early in the project that the ability to influence the outcome is the greatest and costs are the lowest. Moreover, any wrong decisions taken during an early stage trigger tremendous extra cost. This seems to be logical, however still too many people underestimate this logic, cut design cost during the early stage and suffer later from a tremendous budget overrun. Furthermore, many lack the experience of running complex projects and do not see the bigger picture, which means the interrelation of various disciplines and stakeholders.
Our complexity awareness workshops help our clients to become aware of the true cost drivers of large projects from the very beginning. We work on the basis of cause-effect diagrams and cognitive mapping.
